Department of Soil Science and Water Resources
The department was established in 2011-2012 and started to receive students in the current academic year (2012-2013). The number of students admitted in the first year was 82 students, During the course of the study, the students study the various subjects of specialization. One of the main objectives of the department is to graduate scientific staff (agricultural engineers) qualified with a bachelor's degree in agricultural sciences and within the competence of soil science and water resources, as well as the advanced scientific staff of holders of higher degrees Masters and PhD, In addition, the development of programs for community service through the establishment of training courses and guidance in various areas of specialization in cooperation with other state departments related to agricultural sciences.
The Department also focuses on contributing to solving the problems faced by the agricultural sector, especially in the fields of soil and water, through the preparation of research projects carried out by the scientific staff in the department in particular or through research projects for postgraduate students. It is also interested in studying the chemical properties related to soil material and the study of chemical and physiochemical processes in the soil and its effect on the behavior of soil nutrients and their transformation. This specialization includes other approaches that have a fundamental relationship with this specialization such as soil, water and plant analysis, physical chemistry, soil minerals, soil salinity, water quality, land reclamation.
